February 2019

The end of January - beginning of February has been more hectic than we'd planned!

John and Melanie recently attended Chateau Clos Lucé's 2019 season launch.  They are particularly excited this year as it marks the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci at the Chateau and they have many events planned throughout the year and a new exhibition opening in the autumn.
More information can be found at www.vinci-closluce.com , www.vivadavinci2019.fr .

The whole region is also celebrating 500 years of the Renaissance with special events at the major chateaux, especially Chambord, Amboise and Chaumont.

The bridge has changed for the better.  The pre-formed concrete pieces has all been put into place and are being secured.  There is still a lot of finishing to do: - road surface, pavement and railings.  Also, resurfacing the approach roads both sides and rebuilding the steps.

The site has been trimmed by the professionals at Lantana.  The hedges has been cut and several trees pruned.  They have also taken out a couple of trees in anticipation of the resizing of certain pitches.

The biggest upheaval has been the death of John's mother on 25 January.

Known as Granny Pat in her latter years, she was a vital part of our family's take-over of Camping Le Moulin Fort.  She spent the first few summers with us, helping to look after the girls, tending the flower beds, enjoying the company of the other guests and chatting to everyone!
The recent years haven't been easy as she has slowly slipped away in Coed Isaf Nursing Home in North Wales.  She has been well cared for and passed away quietly at the Home. She will be missed, but is in a better place now.

All the family attended her funeral on Monday 4 February along with many of her friends from North Wales and Merseyside. It was nice to see everyone together again.
We made the most of the winter sunshine on Llandudno beach and enjoyed 'skimming stones' into the Irish Sea - some more successful than others!!
