End of June news

Do you ever get that feeling of running and running and still not being able to keep up? Well, that’s what it’s been like for us for the past few weeks.  We’ve had some fabulous weather and the campsite has been slightly busier than normal, with a great atmosphere and some really fun events. Sarah took 18 people on a lovely walk to discover the Calvert of St Georges last Friday, amid lots of chat and good humour.

The annual Fete de la Locomotion in Francueil village was again a huge success with over 50 trucks and a wide variety of old cars, vans and tractors.

We had an excellent evening last Saturday with another of our Hidden Talents events and in between times, we’ve been busy in the kitchen and bar, cooking over 80 meals last Sunday evening.

The girls are coming to the end of their school year with concerts, gym shows, theatre presentations and so on.  Sarah drove almost 400km on Sunday to collect Rebecca from one place and deliver her to another on the opposite side of the region and then sat through a totally random dance show.  This taxi service of Mum and Dad will be a familiar story to many … and we’re pleased to be able to be there for our children, aware that it’s not going to be like this for much longer.  Rebecca has had her dates for Italy confirmed – she leaves on 12 September.....and Danielle is currently in negotiations to find an exchange correspondent for her trip to Germany in October.  It will be a very different school year for us this autumn!

Bill and Jan are currently staying with us, with their friends Clive and Sue, and also Sarah’s sister Helen and her daughter, Mary.  It will be a good opportunity to begin celebrating Bill’s 70th birthday and we have a live music event planned on Monday.  The weather forecast is significantly better than last time the group came … fingers crossed.

And then high season will be well and truly underway.  Rebecca is going to Austria for a week and will return with Clara, the final member of our seasonal team to join us.  Bastille Night BBQ, music and firework display followed by a new act, Ian Acoustic on 21st July and we’ll be running until September!  Luckily, we’ll have our weekly dose of Qi Gong to find that inner energy … and the opportunity to have a shiatsu massage on a Monday evening. More details on our "Well being" page.

It’s been a great start to a new and exciting season and we’re pretty busy for the summer so if you’re planning a visit, we’d recommend you get in touch with us soon!

If you are very organised (as some of our regular guests seem to be) you can also book now for 2016 if you want a specific pitch!  Send us an email with your dates and we'll do our best. However, pitch #77 is booked for the whole of June and most of July already!!!
