July has been a month of ups and downs. We had lots of rain at the beginning of the month then some lovely sunshine, very hot days and several thunderstorms subsequently.
We’ve had some really great ‘soirees’: Georges and Jean set the scene with a lively performance on 14th July, followed by an amazing firework display; Bruno and Lison played earlier this week, and as ever, it was a really relaxed and convivial evening where everyone seemed to be having fun. Cath joined Bruno for a spine-tingling performance of Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ …
We’ve had two ‘in-house’ musical evenings, hosted by Mick and Cath, where staff and campers have been happy to reveal their HIDDEN TALENTS…. Both evenings were lots of fun – thanks to Mick and Cath, Bradley, Phil, Tony and the Dutch guy who sang Stars from Les Mis, not to mention Rebecca and Melanie who both sang in public for the first time!! We’re hoping to hold another couple events like these in August so get practising!!!
Earlier in the month, John’s Mum slipped while wandering about her nursing home and has broken her hip. She’s had a hip screw operation and is now convalescing in a cottage hospital near Holyhead. She seems to be well looked-after but it’s a worry nonetheless, all the more so since we’re unable to get back and visit her during our busy season.
The campsite is almost full which is good … so fingers crossed for a prolonged spell of good weather and lots of happy campers! Next update: late August when we should be reeling from the whirlwind that is high season, and looking forward to a quieter Autumn.
