May News

The girls and Sarah had a lovely time visiting family in the UK. The weather was fine and they were able, amongst other things, to enjoy the Bluebells in the Malvern Hills with Bill, Jan and the Stone family!

Meanwhile, John and Bradley were joined by Mick, happy to return to LMF after a brief trip to Canada.  Together, the three have begun to prepare the pool for opening next week, as well as keeping on top of the general day to day maintenance and gardening.

Sarah is back teaching again … a third teacher is now off school.  She twisted her ankle and then, whilst walking with crutches, slipped and broke her collar bone.  She’s off until 21st May so Sarah has another 5 classes to get to know.  By the end of the school year, she will have taught 14 different classes, assuming no other teachers go on sick leave….
So John is busy manning Reception and dealing with all the admin… luckily, we’ll be joined by another member of the team this weekend, and we’re pleased that Kevin and Marion will be returning at the end of the month, when the bar and restaurant will open.

It’s the World Cup this year and we’ll have the matches on in the bar.  However, please note that we usually close the bar on 21st June so we can support our local village.  Every year, they organise a big ‘do’ with live music, a splendid firework display and a huge bonfire made with the old vines.  Big American-style trucks parade though the local villages and the following day sees an Autojumble-style event with a bewildering display of junk and prized possessions for sale.

Note also that we don’t go Football mad – meals continue to be served in the bar amid a convivial atmosphere.  We’re preparing the new menus now and are happy to say that we’ll have a number of ‘nouveautés’ on the menu this year.  We are very proud of our healthy-eating options… we serve all of the meals with wild rice and salad if requested – and we have lots of non-chip choices … and we will, of course, be keeping all the old favourites!

Next update: mid June when we’ll be well and truly in the swing of things!

Some of you may already be aware, but Belle France have moved their operations out our storage barn this year.  This means 'Bob' will not be present on site as in the past.  We wish them well at their new location and thank all their representatives, Bob and Karen in particular, for their help at Le Moulin Fort over the past 10 years.  Find out more about them at : www.bellefrance.co.uk .
